Joby Electric Air Taxi New York City Flight
Joby Aviation’s electric air taxi successfully performed an exhibition flight around New York City yesterday, marking the first time ever that it has flown in an urban setting. This eVTOL was engineered to have a dramatically lower acoustic footprint than today’s helicopters, allowing it to operate in densely populated areas.

This 4,000 pound aircraft has a top speed of over 200-mph (322-km/h) and around a 150-mile (241-km) range when fully charged. So far, Joby has flown more than 30,000 miles with its full-scale prototype eVTOL aircraft, starting in 2017. Its first eVTOL aircraft rolled off its Pilot Production Plant in Marina, California earlier this year and commercial passenger service is expected to begin in 2025.

Joby Electric Air Taxi New York City Flight

By electrifying one of the most famous heliports in the world, New York is demonstrating global leadership in the adoption of electric air travel. We’re grateful for the support of the city, and we’re honored to be working with visionary partners like Delta Air Lines to bring our air taxi service to this market. We plan to make quiet, emissions-free flight an affordable, everyday reality for New Yorkers, while significantly reducing the impact of helicopter noise,” said JoeBen Bevirt, Founder and CEO of Joby Aviation.

KUKA Robotic Arm Puppet Show
KUKA’s robotic arms aren’t just for industrial purposes, they can also put on an interesting puppet show at Augsburg City Hall in Germany. This celebration of the company’s 125th anniversary isn’t just a one time show, as guests can see “Unteren Flez” directly on the first floor of the building.

Visitors can get up close and see how robotic arms Mario and Nette control the two puppets: KUrt KAsperle and the dragon Famulus, the the latter of which was named after the first KUKA robot. Watch these two experience adventures together between the city hall, the train station and KUKA headquarters in a masterfully crafted scene of Augsburg. Best of all, there is no cost to see this show during the opening hours of Augsburg City Hall.

For 125 years, KUKA has been firmly rooted in its home base of Augsburg – and has developed from a manufacturer of acetylene gas or garbage trucks into a globally active automation group. Exactly 50 years ago, KUKA made history as a robotics pioneer with the world’s first industrial robot with six electromagnetically driven axes, said Ulrike Götz, KUKA Spokesperson Technology.
