The new PS5 slim console can apparently be purchased from some retailers ahead of its release later this month, and one gamer placed it side-by-side next to the original. Aside from the obvious size difference, the detachable Blu-ray disc drive requires an internet connection for the initial registration process.
Sony claims that the new $499.99 PS5 slim has been reduced in volume by more than 30%, and weight by 18% / 24% compared to the previous models. You can switch between four separate cover panels, with the top portion in a glossy look, while the bottom remains in matte. Anyone who purchases the $449.99 PS5 Digital Edition can add the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 later for 79.99 USD.
